FWIW this string will change again after Bug 835896 (and will be set back to something like 'Search' or 'Search HTML')

Sebastian: Is this issue still valid now that the placeholder text has been shortened to "Search HTML" ?

I have Firefox DevEdition in French, and yes, it is still a problem.
The French translation: "Rechercher dans le HTML" is cropped for me: "Rechercher dans le HT".
